Cäsar Malan

Swiss Reformed pastor and hymn writer who composed numerous evangelical hymns emphasizing personal faith and conversion. He was a leader in the Swiss evangelical revival and contributed significantly to Protestant hymnody in the nineteenth century through both lyrical compositions and theological depth. His hymns were widely translated and influenced hymn singing across Europe and North America.
