Clement of Alexandria

Early Christian theologian and Church Father whose hymnic writings, including the 'Protrepticus' and fragments preserved by Eusebius, represent some of the earliest Christian devotional poetry. His work bridges Greek philosophical tradition and Christian theology in proto-hymnodic form.
