Fanny Crosby

LyricistAmerican Methodist hymnist and prolific lyricist who, despite being blind from infancy, wrote over 9,000 hymn texts during her lifetime. She was instrumental in developing the American gospel hymn tradition and collaborated with major composers including William Bradbury and Ira Sankey. Crosby's accessible, emotionally direct hymns became foundational to evangelical Protestant worship.
