Felix Mendelssohn

German Romantic composer whose choral and instrumental works enriched Protestant church music throughout the 19th century. Though primarily known as a symphonist, his anthems, motets, and hymn tunes (including the tune for 'Hark! The Herald Angels Sing') left a lasting legacy in ecclesiastical music traditions.
