Henry Francis Lyte

Henry Francis Lyte was an English Anglican clergyman and prolific hymn lyricist best known for 'Abide with Me,' one of the most celebrated hymns in Christian worship. He served as vicar of Lower Brixham in Devon and wrote numerous hymn texts characterized by devotional depth and poetic beauty.
