Horatio Richmond Palmer

American composer, conductor, and music educator known as the "father of the American musical convention." Palmer composed hundreds of gospel hymn tunes and was instrumental in developing music pedagogy in American churches and schools. He founded the annual Musical Convention and shaped the style of 19th-century American gospel music.
