Horatio Spafford

American hymn lyricist best known for writing "It Is Well with My Soul" in 1873 following personal tragedies, including the loss of his children in a shipwreck. Though not a professional musician, his profound spiritual lyrics have become classics of Protestant hymnody, expressing faith amid suffering.
