John Sweeney

American gospel composer and music director who contributed significantly to Methodist and evangelical hymnody in the late 19th century. He composed numerous gospel hymn tunes and served as musical director for revival meetings and camp meetings. His works reflected the fervent, singable style of American revivalism.
