Joseph P. Webster

American composer and music educator known for his popular hymn melodies and parlor songs of the 19th century. Webster composed the melody for the hymn "Blessed Assurance" (1873), which became a standard in Methodist and evangelical hymnody. His works reflected the musical tastes of American Protestant worship during the mid-1800s.
