Philip Paul Bliss

American gospel musician, composer, and lyricist who created numerous popular gospel hymns that defined evangelical Protestant worship in the 19th century. He collaborated with evangelists Dwight L. Moody and Ira Sankey, composing memorable melodies and texts for revival meetings and Sunday schools before his early death.
