William Henry Walter

American Methodist composer and organist who contributed numerous hymn tunes to 19th-century Methodist hymnals. He served as a music director and composer for the Methodist Episcopal Church, helping shape American Methodist musical tradition. His works appeared in major Methodist collections of the period.
