William Howard Doane

Prolific American composer and music publisher who wrote over 2,200 hymn tunes and collaborated with major lyricists including Fanny Crosby and Isaac Watts adaptations. He founded the John Church Company and was instrumental in shaping American Gospel music and hymnal traditions of the late 19th century. His melodies remain standard in American Protestant worship.
