William Osbrone Cushing

Prolific American hymn writer who composed over 350 hymn texts, many paired with melodies by popular composers of his era. Though partially blind and deaf, Cushing remained remarkably productive and his lyrics appeared in numerous Baptist and evangelical hymnals. His work emphasized grace, comfort, and assurance themes.
