William Steffe

American composer and Methodist Sunday school teacher best known for composing the melody to 'Battle Hymn of the Republic' (1861), originally titled 'Say, Brothers, Will You Meet Us?' Steffe's tune became one of the most iconic melodies in American hymnody and patriotic music.
