William Sterndale Bennett

English composer, pianist, and conductor who composed hymn tunes and sacred music alongside his concert works. He was influential in Victorian musical life and contributed original hymn melodies to the Anglican tradition. Bennett served as principal of the Royal Academy of Music and helped establish higher standards for British musical composition.
